Wildfires are devastating communities across California, causing more than 300,000 people to evacuate their homes and threatening many more. The Camp Fire in Northern California -- one of three blazing across the state -- is the most destructive in state history. We want to ensure that, if you are in an affected community, you find access to shelter. And if you are looking to help with disaster relief efforts, you know the most effective ways to contribute.
Enriching our community by connecting older adults with meaningful and rewarding volunteer opportunities.
We have around 1000 senior volunteers who share their time and experience with approximately 150 local nonprofit organizations in need of their support. In addition, we sponsor the following programs:
Provide-A-Ride transportation program--provides one-on-one assistance for low to moderate income elderly persons in need of transportation to their medical appts.
Telephone Buddies--senior volunteers provide regular contact to isolated, homebound elderly and handicapped persons.
Professional Volunteer Services -- volunteers lend their enhanced expertise to local nonprofit organizations, including financial review, management or administrative needs assessment, program policies and procedures, computer systems or programs, public relations, board service and more.
