Mission Statement

Our vision is to help create a nurturing and caring community that offers hope to all of its youth and empowers every young person to find and fulfill their God-given destiny. We believe that all young people need to have positive relationships with caring adults, to live in strong communities, and to build practical skills.

Description

The JOY! Initiative is an aftercare mentoring project for the Youth Chaplaincy Program located in the King County Juvenile Detention Center. We work in collaboration with local faith congregations and community organizations to create a positive network of caring for our young people who are transitioning out of detention and back to the Greater Seattle and White Center communities. We present our youth with a caring and positive adult presence in their life, spiritual growth, educational support, and vocational training.
