Hospice Volunteer Program The Hospice Volunteer Program exists to assist the interdisciplinary team (IDT) in the provision of end of life care for our patients, to help provide emotional support to our patients loved ones, and to provide additional support to the program overall. To provide quality volunteer services to patients, their loved ones and hospice staff through the recruiting, screening, training and supervision of volunteers. Maintain a diverse core of volunteers sufficient to provide administrative or direct patient care in an amount that, at a minimum, equals five percent (5%) of the total patient care hours of all paid hospice employees and contract staff. Provide oppotunities for members of the community to serve in meaningful and fulfilling ways. Expand community education in areas of hospice, dying, death and bereavement issues.
Housecall Hospice services include: Nursing care, including care on a continuous basis for as much as 24 hours a day including periods of crisis, or as necessary to maintain the patient at home; Medical social services; Physician Services; Counseling services and pastoral care; Short-term inpatient and respite care; Personal care provided by certified nursing assistants; Therapies (e.g. physical, occupational, speech, dietary); Bereavement counselling; Volunteer Services
