Mission Statement
The mission of Enviro 1st is to foster community development through sustainable environmental programs. Enviro 1st developed in 1997 in order to assist communities in their efforts to organize against environmental hazards. We help communities organize by providing the following services: develop brochures, flyers and surveys conduct trainings and workshops develop literature like directories of environmental justice groups, research reports, and working papers on environmental justice and sustainable living issues Organize conferences, and conduct research that supports communities' efforts to stop landfill citings and other noxious facilities. Our mission has evolved to include building and sustaining connections between environmental justice and mainstream environmentalism. We believe that people and communities know what they need. We help them get it. We view education and awareness as tools of empowerment.
