Mission Statement
The mission of Debt Counseling Corporation is to educate the general public about debt management options such as budgeting, refinancing, saving, and a Debt Management Program; to provide consumers consistent, superior, individualized service; to provide each consumer with the tools they need to develop and modify a budget which will allow them to maintain a dignified lifestyle throughout their lifetime.
Description
Debt Counseling Corporation was founded in 1995 in response to the increasing amount of debt in America. Recognizing that there were not many resources in place where people could learn how to make better financial decisions without costly implications, DCC incorporated as a 501(c)(3) not for profit organization that provides free financial and money management education, counseling and support on a local and national basis. DCC's Certified Personal Finance Counselors help individuals and families explore the options for reaching their goal of getting out of debt and establishing savings. By teaching individuals how to maintain a new, healthy financial lifestyle they can ultimately improve their quality of life.
DCC offers education through classes, workshops, seminars, and individualized counseling through materials developed in-house such as brochures, topic specific fact sheets, outlines, newsletters and the like. DCC offers the following educational programs as well; EFFECT (Employee Financial Freedom Educational Credit Training), Esperanza Financiero (Financial Hope) which targets low/moderate income Hispanic/Latino populations), SOS (Saving Our Seniors), YES (Youth Educational Services) targeting youth centers, teen groups, high school/college students), WISH (Women In Search of Help) targeting displaced homemakers, low income single mothers, victims of domestic violence, and DCC's comprehensive "Living Debt Free" educational program (designed for any and all low/moderate income community groups, ex. Libraries, hospitals, military, etc). DCC is well respected in our field and has appeared on CBS, NBC, and in Newsday to share our expertise. We have helped thousands of people and look forward to helping even more in the future.
