Mission Statement
The mission of The Nature Conservancy is to preserve plants, animals and natural communities that represent the diversity of life on Earth by protecting the land and waters they need to survive.
Description
Over its 52 year history, The Eastern New York Chapter of The Nature Conservancy has protected more than 30,000 acres and owns and manages 45 preserves from Westchester County to the foothills of the Adirondacks. The Conservancy concentrates on the global preservation of natural diversity by protecting whole ecosystems. We use on the ground science to identify, protect and manage elements of diversity. We manage nature preserves for public enjoyment as well as for wildlife. These preserves provide vital sanctuary for numerous native and rare plants and wildlife as well as a peaceful place to enjoy the beauty and natural heritage of this region.
