Mission Statement

UBECI Volunteer Projects is a not-for-profit, non-government organization in Ecuador that works daily to ensure a better future for Ecuadorian children and youth. Located in Quito, Ecuador, UBECI programs serve low-income children and their families in Quito and in surrounding rural areas. UBECI is staffed with experienced individuals in social work and education who provide educational services, recreational activities, and social support to at-risk children and adolescents that, at a young age, began working in the streets, markets, and farms to support their family.

UBECI provide assistance and develop activities to the children and their families in the markets, at the moment we work in three places: Guamani, Chillogallo in Quito, and Sangolqui close to Quito, volunteer attend to the children of recreational activities and by providing a positive role-model. Most of these children do not have the opportunity to attend school, therefore UBECI aims to provide an environment in which they can learn and be encouraged to pursue educational opportunities. This project we called: "Juego, Hago y Aprendo"

When the volunteer arrive to the markets, same will help collect the children from their families and bring them to UBECI's space in the market. Once the children are with UBECI, other volunteer will help them wash their hands (this is done to teach the children the importance of hygiene). After washing their hands, volunteers sing with the children and participate in recreational activities. After this volunteers will help to teach the children the lesson of that week (normally something related to their culture, environment or daily life). With all of these activities, UBECI hopes to give a basic understanding of their world and hopes to provide an educational resource for the children.
