Mission Statement

The mission of the Charleston Trident Urban League is to assist African-Americans and other disadvantaged minorities to achieve economic and social equality. The Charleston Trident Urban League implements its mission through advocacy, direct services and working in collaboration with local and state agencies and through partnerships with individuals and members of the corporate community.

Description

Fair Housing:Provides assistance to individuals who do not receive fair and equal treatment by landlords, financial institutions and realtors.

Housing: Conducts first-time homebuyer education classes for low to moderate income residents of the tri-county area. Partners with several local banks to provide homebuyer education and one-on-one counseling as required to receive specific loans.

Teen Outreach Program:Provide's adolescent pregnancy prevention programs to youth in grades 6 through 9 using Health Education and Risk Reduction (HERR) model. VITA Tax preparation: Provides FREE tax preparation and assistance for low to moderate income individuals and families with limited resources. Encourages planning towards economic self-sufficiency with the use of the earned income tax credit.
