The Progressive Center for Independent Living, Inc. (PCIL) advocates for the rights of people with disabilities to achieve and maintain independent lifestyles. Through promotion of choice, self-direction and inclusion PCIL works with people with disabilities and their families to ensure the same freedoms and civil liberties as everyone else.
PCIL help make independent living an achievable goal. People with disabilities who live in Mercer and Hunterdon Counties can obtain four essential core PCIL services:
- Information & Referral
- Peer Support
- Independent Living Skills
The organization also offers a recreation program entitled Community Connections which provides socialization opportunities while breaking down barriers with the community. PCIL also offers trainings to employers throughout the State of New Jersey on disability sensitivity.
Another area of focus for PCIL is Emergency Preparedness for people with disabilities.
