The University of Minnesota Homecoming Public Events Committee (Part of the U of M Alumni Association) is driven to engage the entire University of Minnesota-Twin Cities community in participating in Homecoming Week events and activities.
There are several public events that will take place during Homecoming Week 2009.Sunday, October 4, 2009 - TCF Bank Stadium Tours and University Open House - This event kicks off the week of Homecoming 2009 with tours of the stadium field and locker room; interactive exhibits by collegiate units (like you'd see at the U of M State Fair building); some stadium concessions; give-aways at many exhibits; a non-perishable food drive, a drawing at the CLA exhibit space for Homecoming game day tickets; a mock dorm room, performances/demonstrations by U of M arts performers and scientists; and much more.
Monday, October 5, 2009 - Freeman Lecture/Great Conversations event featuring the deans of the Humphrey Institute; College of Food, Agricultural and Natural Resource Sciences; and the College of Continuing Education interviewing/moderating discussion with new U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack
Wednesday, October 7, 2009 - Student Scholars & Public Engagement Showcase featuring students across the U conveying their research in various formats and a public engagement conference.
Friday, October 9, 2009 - Maroon & Gold Friday - We're encouraging the entire University community (worldwide) to wear maroon and gold this day to show U of M spirit. On campus there will be a pre-parade party at the McNamara Alumni Center (4:30 pm) and the Homecoming Parade on Friday evening followed by a pep fest and fireworks show in the stadium.
We would love to enlist as many alumni, students, faculty/staff and community members at any of these events. Volunteers may register at: https://cfans.wufoo.com/forms/ultimate-homecoming-volunteer-form/
