Description
The Volcano Theatre Company was started as the Volcano Pioneers Theatre Company in 1973 by a group of people that believed that there was a need for a community theatre to provide artistic enrichment to the residents of Amador County. By 1975, the all-volunteer company had acquired the 50 seat Cobblestone Theatre in Volcano, CA through the generosity of a local family who had a similar interest in dramatic arts. The acquisition of the 275 seat outdoor amphitheatre followed in 1984 and the company began producing both indoor and outdoor plays on an annual basis.
