Mission Statement
For over fifty years, the National MS Society has been dedicated to its mission of mobilizing people and resources to drive research for a cure and to address the challenges of everyone affected by MS. The Indiana State Chapter of the National MS Society provides help for today--through numerous programs for families living with MS--and hope for tomorrow through national research to find a cure.
Description
The Indiana State Chapter was founded in 1954. Today, nearly 10,000 Hoosiers and their families benefit from the National MS Society, Indiana State Chapter through:
- A comprehensive information and referral center, with detailed and specific information for clients like insurance questions, symptom and disease information, local neurologists, physical therapists, cognitive programs and even suicide prevention.
- equipment assistance
- 35 self-help groups
- educational programs
- advocacy
We host several local events to raise money to support our work: WalkMS, On the Move luncheon, and MS Awareness Day with the Gary SouthShore RailCats.
In addition, the National MS Society continues to be a leader in research to find a cure for MS:
The National MS Society has funded basic and
clinical research that has lead to each of the six approved disease modifying drugs for MS.
