Mission Statement

WSU Snohomish County Extension Beach Watchers are volunteers dedicated to protecting Puget Sound through education, research and restoration in our own communities.

Description

WSU Beach Watchers are volunteers who are enthusiastic about protecting the waters and wildlife of Puget Sound. They receive 100 hours of university - caliber training on Puget Sound natural resources as well as topics like community outreach, citizen monitoring and more.

Each Beach Watcher then volunteers at least 100 hours over two years on Snohomish County projects that protect the Sound - crafting their own volunteer experience. There are roles for people who want to spend time in the field talking to the public or collecting data for scientific use. There are also roles for people who want to plan projects and organize teams and people who want to go out and simply do an assigned task.
