"To promote animal welfare, to encourage and strengthen the human-animal bond and prevent the overpopulation of pets."
The Animal Rescue League of Iowa is a dynamic, progressive-minded organization dedicated to animals and people. In addition to our daily operations of caring for over 18,500 animals a year, we also offer a variety of programs in the community including humane education, animal assisted therapy, abuse and neglect intervention, pet behavior counseling, puppy and dog training classes, birthday parties, and our extensive volunteer program.

I've been a Cat Lover Volunteer for 1 year. I really like it when a love match happens between a kitty and its new family and I've been a part of that connection. Great organization and you can volunteer as your time allows.

I have adopted two of my last two cats from the Animal Rescue League and the experience was always a good one. The people working there were knowledgeable and very good with the animals. The cages and the environment appeared (from what I could see anyway) to be clean and well run. I would highly recommend adopting a pet from this organization to others.
