Mission Statement

Dothan Landmarks Foundation has as its mission to collect, preserve, and interpret the cultural and natural heritage of Dothan and the Wiregrass Region.

The primary goal that guide the foundation in fulfilling its mission are the following:

To create a better understanding of an appreciation for the lives and times of the people who settled Dothan and the Wiregrass Region, so that present and future generations will recognize the contributions of our forefathers to our lives today.

Tocreate a better understanding of and appreciation for the natural environments of the Wiregrass Regio, sothat present and future generations may become better stewards of our natural resources.

to operate and maintain Landmark Park as a cultural, educational and recreational facility for citizens of Dothan and the Waregrass Region.

To invest and manage the Foundation's assets so as to support in perpetuity the purposes of the Foundation.

To offer satisfying and rewarding career opportunities to Foundation employees, and to act responsibly and positively as a good corporate citizen.

Description

Landmark Park is a Natrual History and Science Park. the park has several differen areas of interest: the Farm, the Town Square including the drug store with a working soda fountian, country store, Presbyterian Church, a one room school house, the Barnyard Playground, the Stokes Activity Barn and the Official Alabama Agricultural Museum. There are also a reised boardwalk with exhibits of wildlife and a nature trail with excellent birding opportunities. The one hurdred plus acre park also exhibits various crops through out the year.
