About AileyCamp Miami 2023 Now in its 15th year, AileyCamp Miami is a summer day camp where middle school students are "turned on" to dance and come to respect the discipline of dance as a physical activity that requires athletic ability comparable to skills demanded by any sport. Also, campers will increase their leadership skills and enjoy a variety of social activities. AileyCamp Miami is a full scholarship six-week summer camp for Miami-Dade County Public Middle School students currently enrolled in 6th, 7th, 8th grade ages 11 to 14. Background As the focal point of performing arts activity in South Florida, the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts of Miami-Dade County serves as a showcase for the finest in established and developing performing arts programs. The Center is the foundation on which established resident organizations build their programs and extend their reach. The Center also serves as a laboratory, providing first class accessible facilities for smaller, emerging and developing organizations and for the Center’s own innovative productions and events. The Center provides our diverse audiences with opportunities to share South Florida's many cultures, offering insights and understanding. As an educational resource, the Center broadens the horizons of our children and enhances our quality of life by offering a full range of cultural learning experiences. All prospective volunteers will be required to attend New Volunteer Orientation. Free Tours We encourage all interested persons to tour our facility prior to signing up as a volunteer. Tours are facilitated every Monday and Saturday, beginning at noon. Tours are free to the public.

We need Hospitality Volunteer Team to assist with various functions for regular and special meetings. Since volunteers are considered a welcoming presence for board members, guests, and the community, they will be responsible for arranging and overseeing the hospitality needs of council members, board members, committee members, and guests. Volunteer organizations cannot operate without the help of volunteers. Adrienne Arsht Center has several opportunities available for those who want to make our community better. Volunteer & Intern Services at the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts is looking for dedicated volunteers for its monthly newsletter. We are in need of the following position: Content Writer/Editor In order to strengthen the Arsht Center's Volunteer presence internally, the Content Writing & Editing Volunteer will work to produce enriching and engaging content related to Arsht Volunteers and events/performances here at the Arsht Center (including off-site events). The newsletter editor’s primary task for the term of the assignment is to solicit content from contributors as scheduled, format it for use on website and prepare it for distribution via our emailed newsletter and social media channels. Using pagination software, the newsletter editor compiles and organizes articles into a timely monthly volunteer newsletter. The editor also assembles volunteers to prepare the newsletter for publication and arranges for its distribution. Knowledge of pagination and word-processing software, such as Microsoft Word and Publisher; good organization skills; ability to write clearly and concisely; ability to perform well under deadline pressure; and ability to work as part of a team. RESPONSIBILITIES: Develop engaging and compelling newsletters and website content with a specific focus on Arsht volunteers. Assists in the development of content strategies. Guarantees the quality of media content. Assumes accountability for the accuracy and integrity of the content. Directly represents the organization’s mission and vision through content writing. Effectively composes content that is related to Volunteers and the Arsht Center Effectively address the target audience and the purpose of the communication with proper tone, sentence structure and word count, ensuring the copy is factually correct and that the language used is accurate as well as user friendly. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s Degree in English Literature, Rhetoric & Composition, Journalism/Communications or related field is Preferred. Knowledgeable in multimedia and social media. Previous working experience at an advocacy organization will be an advantage. Experience in creating and posting content on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram. Proficiency in MS Office (Microsoft Word and Microsoft PowerPoint) applications and graphic design platforms (Photoshop, Lightroom, Canva, etc.) is preferred. Great proof-reading, copy-writing and copy-editing skills Be familiar with graphic design techniques. Flexible and engaging towards other volunteers and Arsht employees and contractors. Time Commitment It is expected that the newsletter editor will spend approximately 5-10 hours a month working on the newsletter. Although this is a volunteer position, it directly impacts all the volunteers and is a critical source of information for the volunteer corps. The editor will also be required to volunteer for performances in order to establish a solid rapport with Arsht Volunteers and staff. This also helps the editor become more relatable to the volunteers and their concerns. We are looking to grow our audio description team! Audio describers depict orally what happens on the screen or on stage for the blind and visually impaired so that they can enjoy audio-visual shows, live performances or sports events. They produce audio description scripts for programs and events and use their voice to record them. What skills do I need to be an Audio Describer? Sociable Commitment Communication Attention to detail Pronunciation techniques - must be able to pronounce words correctly for them to be understood Synchronization with mouth movements Punctuality - if you’re describing a theatre show you must be on time Descriptive Willingness to learn We are looking to find volunteers who already posses this skillset, however we are also open to training new volunteers who are dedicated to learning this very important skill.
