Mission Statement

To improve the wellbeing of animals (primarily dogs & cats) in the San Luis Valley (SLV).

Description

The San Luis Valley Animal Welfare Society is the largest animal welfare society in the San Luis Valley. We have rescued over 6,000 homeless, often suffering animals in the last nine years - primarily dogs and cats.

The San Luis Valley Animal is the poorest area of Colorado, with approximately 1/3 of the population living below the poverty line. We have active spay and neuter programs to help reduce the staggering numbers of unwanted pets in area.

Pet Adoption Fairs are held every Saturday from 11-5 on the north end of Colorado Springs at the PetSmart at 7680 North Academy Blvd. near the Chapel Hills mall. Each week we find forever homes for many adorable, deserving companion animals.

The lady that works with the volunteers is very nice. The shelter director drives over three hours each way every Saturday to try to find good homes for the dogs and cats. It's amazing! She's done this for years! The dogs are such sweeties, and it's fun to see them find homes. These people really need more help in so many ways.
