Mission Statement

The Rape Crisis Service of Planned Parenthood of the Rochester/Syracuse Region believes every person should be free from sexual assault and/or sexual harassment. To this end, the program assures personal support and advocacy for victims and significant others of sexual assault and violence.

Staff members and trained volunteer counselors support victims in the areas of medical needs, psychological support, police intervention and legal prosecution.

Information provided through prevention education and professional training programs increases awareness and improves societal response to sexual violence in the community and creates a society less vulnerable to sexual violence.

This is a very inportant program. Without it there would be mnqany women who would not be able to cope or to see that their rapist got the juatice they deserve for their crime. Rape is a crime of violence not of passion. Women never get over the fact that they were rapped and sometimes their spouces do not either Some will end in divorice because the spouse or the women could not cope with the issues of being rapped. Without the rape crissis most of these women and their spouces would never be able to cope with the rape or prosacute their offenders. So yes I would would be very likely to reccomend the rape crissis center to a friend or colleague.

Holding this kind of stuff in is not healthy. It is imperative for recovery and growth to seek help in these types of matters. I know from personal experience.
