Here's a sample of our volunteer opportunities:VIEW AS
Formed in 2001 The Philadelphia Film Society is dedicated to the presentation of film and video in the Greater Philadelphia area as a powerful form of artistic expression and a unique force for cultural diversity and international understanding. Its mission is to engage the diverse communities of the region by producing major film events and other year-round programming.
For the past 19 years, PFS' most prominent event has been the Philadelphia Film Festival. Held for two weeks each year, the Festival brings the world's imagination to Philadelphia with screenings of nearly 300 features, documentaries, shorts and animation from 50 countries for an audience of 61,000. Among its thematic highlights are "Precious", which in 2009 closed the Film Festival with director, Lee Daniels in attendance and months later won 2 Academy Awards with 6 nominations; PFS also has year-round film screenings, titled the Filmadelphia Screening Series. This series occurs once a week and highlights classics, independent and documentary films that may not otherwise be seen on the big screen in Philadelphia.
