Mission Statement
FACES is an intergenerational organization that works for environmental justice within communities in the United States and in the Philippines, and builds partnerships through advocacy, education, service, and organizing.
Description
Launched in February 2000, the Filipino/American Coalition for Environmental Solidarity originated as a growing movement of church, environmental, peace and justice groups, students, scientists, professionals, and other concerned citizens committed to seeking environmental justice for the communities affected by toxic contamination at former U.S. military bases in the Philippines. In 2006, FACES expanded our vision of transnational environmental justice. Our Chevron Campaign works to build awareness and to pressure Chevron, the 2nd largest oil company in the US, for accountability to its environmental and health impacts in Pandacan, Manila where over 84,000 residents live fenceline to a Chevron-owned depot.
