Mission Statement

The mission of Rebirth and Development, Inc. is to improve the quality of life for homeless and low-income populations in San Francisco by providing direct services, information and referral, and other free services. Our group is unique in that we are all volunteers; there is no paid staff. We emphasize low-cost, high-quality services tailored to fit the special needs of each individual client.

Description

Rebirth and Development maintains two types of programs.

  • Homeless and Community Services: Emergency and transition shelter (The Small Free Inn), Food pantry (The Food Room), and the 23 rd Street Community Garden Project.

  • Information and Referral: Charts and directories published quarterly describing the location and eligibility requirements of free shelter, food, mental health and medical assistance in San Francisco [1] .

[1] The Free Print Shop has been publishing the tri-monthly San Francisco Free Eats Chart and Free Shelter Charts for over 20 years. Twelve years ago we started publishing the Free Medical Chart, nine years ago the Neighborhood Fix-It Chart, and eight years ago the Free Pantry Chart (please see www.freep.org). We released our Mental Health Chart in 2002.
