Putting God's love into action, Skagit Habitat for Humanity brings people together to build homes, community and hope. Empowering people to empower themselves
Established in 1994, Skagit Habitat for Humanity is an organization on a mission to bring people together to build homes, community, and hope. We have built 33 homes since our founding, which have raised the property value of Skagit Valley by $3.4 million. Our homeowners have collectively paid more than $625,000 in property taxes-invested right back into Skagit County! The Skagit Habitat Store is our biggest fundraiser, and takes the motto "Reduce, Re-use, Restore" very seriously. The Store sells gently used donated home items, generating over $350,000 in sales tax since 2009 and keeping close to 3,000 tons of home supplies like plumbing and electrical supplies, lumber, countertops, and furniture out of landfills and instead taken to new homes to be loved. Our upcoming build project at Batey St. in Sedro-Woolley offers some incredible opportunities for volunteers and the community as a whole. Through our Geometry in Construction program, Sedro-Woolley High School students can learn the math of home construction in the classroom before putting it to action at our build site. We are an organization run on volunteer power, and the volunteers on our committees, at the construction sites, and in the Store have helped make all of this possible. We are so excited to meet new volunteers who are just as committed to making a difference as we are!
