Kindness, compassion, service. Volunteers are needed to help with a variety of projects in our office. No special skills are needed (other than a nice smile and a happy disposition!), but if you have areas of special skills or interests, we welcome the opportunity to talk about how we can best utilize your time and service. Our office volunteers play a valuable "behind the scenes" role in support of our nurses, aides, chaplains and social workers who care for our hospice patients and families. Help with preparing mailings, information packets, training materials, our We Honor Veterans materials, organizing supplies, and other things is needed. Office hours are 8 am to 5 pm, Monday through Friday. You choose the time and amount of hours that works best for you! We will work around your schedule. We provide training, ongoing support and lots of nice compliments and gestures of appreciation! Submit a volunteer application on our website www.goodshepherdhospice.com and we'll get right back to you. Or call or email Melody Roster at 417-881-9111 or melody.roster@goodshepherdhospice.com for more information. Compassionate About Care. passionate about life.

Do you have pet that has been professionally trained that you would like to use to bring joy to a patient's life for a little while? We all know petting a pet relieves stress and that is what our patients need. If you can supply documentation showing your pet is up to date on all his/her shot records and has been professionally trained for pet therapy we need you.

Share your talent! Seeking musically inclined people to join our Patient Companion Volunteer Team. You don't have to be a professional musician, just capable and comfortable in playing an instrument or singing for our hospice patients and families. Music can be a great help in reducing stress and anxiety. It can take our patients down memory lane, make them feel a sense of connection and ease their pain. When they listen to music they love, a certain melody may resonate deep within their soul and provide a space that brings comfort, calmness, reassurance and joy. Performing for, or maybe even singing with our patients, is a very special way to offer a heartfelt moment of connection and enjoyment. We offer great training and ongoing support to ensure that you will feel comfortable in your work as a valued member of our Hospice Team! Visit our website at: www.goodshepherdhospice.com to submit your volunteer application and we will follow up with you right away. Or, contact Melody Roster at melody.roster@goodshepherdhospice.com or 417-881-9111 for more information. Compassionate About Care. passionate about life.

Do you know how to sew? If so we need your help to create memories for the caregiver of our patients. We will supply all the materials. We will even deliver the material to you and pick it up if necessary. You would take a favorite article of clothing that belongs to our patients and make it into a memory teddy bear for the family to have.

If you are a veteran we need you to socialize with our veteran patients. Nobody understands a veteran like another veteran will. Nobody can help a veteran patient through the last stages of his/her life with the challenges they face like another veteran can. We also need veteran volunteers on our We Honor Veterans Committee. We would have to go through training and a background check.
