Sunrise hospice care

I've been volunteering with Sunrise for a year now and I can wholeheartedly say that I wouldn't have spent my senior year before college any other way. I know most people may wince at the idea of volunteering for hospice, but when you really consider the work your doing and the importance of it, its not a hard decision to make. The people I've met, patients and employees alike, have been more friendly, compassionate, and interesting than I could have imagined, making my time with Sunrise that much more enjoyable. Beyond that, the volunteer coordinator, Mick Parisi, has been an amazing friend and beyond exceptional mentor. I couldn't have asked for a better supervisor. I thank Mick for not only this amazing opportunity to gain new insight and experience in the world of patient care, but more importantly the opportunity to affect lives and be affected in turn. It has truly been a life changing experience.

I've been volunteering with Sunrise Hospice Care for over 3 years now, on and off with school. Truthfully speaking, in the beginning I was afraid of what I would see but still tried in an effort to see beyond my fears. Unexpectedly I met really great individuals with beautiful souls and some who have really touched my heart. It has been a very rewarding and fulfilling experience for me over the years. It has helped me be more grateful for things taken for granted and learn how to be more empathetic towards others. It has also humbled me with the realization that simply companionship can become the only thing we want in the end. I would definitely recommend this place especially because the people working there are so friendly and professional. They are very appreciative of their volunteers and their work is commendable because they truly make lives better.

I volunteered with sunrise for about 7 months. My experience with them has been very pleasant. Being able to brighten up someones day during their final months of life has been a very positive experience. My patient was always very grateful for my visits and I could tell they really made her happy. The employees at sunrise were always very polite and friendly. Overall I had a good experience with them.

Sunrise Hospice doesn't make me felt pressured to make more visits then I can handle. I enjoy every minute; for they always treat me as part of a team.
