The Melonhead Foundation

Description

The Melonhead Foundation is a 501 c 3 non-profit organization. Created in 1997 by Deb Leone in memory of her daughter Melanie who died from leukemia in 1992. The foundation is a small, intimate group of family and friends working to create a difference in the lives of pediatric cancer patients and their families. We grant financial support to children 21 years of age or younger with a diagnosis of cancer. We give financial aid for any need the family deems necessary to ease their process. Thus far we have made house/rent payments for families traveling away for bone marrow transplants, paid utilities, food and gas bills, bought backyard play equipment, computers, and paid for natural healing, to name a few. The foundation raises these funds with special events and donations. Each spring we host a pro am golf tournament, in summer we have a mail out event, and in fall we host an evening of art & entertainment. We apply for grant money and we network where ever we go. Ultimately the foundation will build Camp Wannahealyah, a healing center in a camp setting which will teach and implement natural healing modalities to pediatric cancer patients and their families. We are an international organization with a home base in Arizona. We assist patients from any of the 50 United States and are allowed to assist other countries as well.
