Community Outreach Volunteer **This is an unpaid volunteer position** Applicant Type: Adults, individuals, students (must be 18 or older), anyone interested in connecting with the community more. Purpose : Community Outreach Volunteers will support AutismTN’s effort to promote autism acceptance and awareness, and connect Middle Tennessee residents to available autism resources. Responsibilities: Help identify potential outreach and awareness events Represent AutismTN at county fairs, school events, corporate events, and other community events Help identify potential outreach and awareness opportunities Engage community members Connect community members to AutismTN Qualifications: Outgoing with effective oral communication skills Willingness to learn about autism and AutismTN information Professional and dependable Available to volunteer during the weekday, evenings, or weekends Have reliable transportation Ability to carry and transport display materials, a minimum of 20 pounds Ability to work well independently or with others Belief in the importance of the mission of AutismTN Time Commitment: Attend at least 1 community event or fair per quarter as opportunities become available. **Must have a valid driver’s license and pass a criminal background check Physical Demands: Light physical demands with transporting, setting up and taking down outreach materials, banners, tables, tents, and more. Volunteer Benefits: Volunteers will have the opportunity to make a positive impact and get to connect with others in the communities we serve. They will help raise awareness about our services and other autism resources. Additionally, volunteers will gain experience with networking, communication, marketing and opportunities to build relationships.

**This is a Volunteer Opportunity Applicant Type: Parents/Caregivers/ Grandparents/Siblings (18+ ) who are interested in connecting with the community more. Purpose: Community Ambassador Volunteers will support AutismTN’s effort to promote autism acceptance/awareness, and connect Middle Tennessee residents to available autism resources. Reports to: Community Relations Director Time Commitment: Flexible but at least 2-8 hours per month (based on your availability) Background: AutismTN is a small nonprofit, founded in 1996, to support people with autistic individuals and their families. We have a small team of staff, supported by a number of volunteers, located primarily in Nashville. The aim of the community ambassador program is to help increase awareness of our organization and the work we do and to help us raise vital funding that is necessary to support our work. Volunteer Ambassadors help to raise awareness of AutismTN y by attending community events to share about AutismTN’s mission and work, to encourage others to get involved, give donations or consider corporate sponsorship. Community Ambassadors are an important asset to our organization as they help us connect to new people and businessesThis is a really important role as it helps us to reach new people, inspire new fundraising activity, and thank our supporters for the work they are doing. The role can take many forms depending on your time, connections and confidence. Some Ambassadors may prefer to make meetings on a one-to-one basis whereas others may prefer to host a talk in front of 100 people. Some Ambassadors may have social contacts that may lead to 'Charity of the Year’ status nominations, or may have business or professional contacts leading to company sponsorships or donations. Others may wish to offer time to appear at community or charity events as a celebrity spokesperson, or to nominate the charity as the beneficiary of TV quiz show appearances or to present awards to our long-service volunteer Responsibilities: Speak 1:1 to parents Attending community events to share information to raise awareness about autism, give presentations/talk about the work of AutismTN and the difference we are making, to inspire people to support AutismTN through fundraising, or donations, Speak publicly to groups and answer questions about AutismTN Serve as a social media ambassador and share AutismTN posts at least twice a month, and share pictures, stories, and notices about upcoming AutismTN events or presentations Volunteer and represent AutismTN at community events/school fairs/resource fairs, etc. Invite people to attend AutismTN events Invite people to attend AutismTN educational presentations. Host awareness event as an opportunity to share AutismTN’s story. Join the executive director at events with elected officials. Make thank-you calls to donors. Forward organizational newsletters/updates to others in your network. Help promote AutismTN’s planned fundraising initiatives and activities. Qualifications: Personable, enthusiastic and approachable Social or business contacts, locally or in a wider arena Confident in public speaking Experience of attending community events Experience organizing and managing fundraising campaigns Genuine interest in promoting public awareness of autism and creating acceptance of neurodiverse individuals Have reliable transportation Belief in the importance of the mission of AutismTN **Must have a valid driver’s license and pass a criminal background check

AutismTN Volunteer Support Group Facilitator In-person or Online Volunteer Support Group Facilitators for Autism Tennessee create safe, and open spaces where participants share their experiences. The goal of our support group is to empower participants, provide emotional, social and/or educational support to group members. Facilitators will be charged with the responsibility of guiding group members in healthy discussions. **This is an unpaid volunteer position. What You Will Do: Facilitates group discussions and encourages group members to share their autism-related experiences. Schedule regular support group meetings Encourage participation and provide focus and guidance for group discussions Maintain confidentiality and respect the individual needs of each group member Develop and support the activities of the group Provide crisis intervention and refer group members to AutismTN resources during group meetings, as needed. Maintain paperwork specific to the support group management (attendance, group notes, activities, etc.) Works to build a community among group members To liaise between AutismTN staff and group participants To provide information about the group and AutismTN services. Position: Volunteer - In-Person Meetup Support Overview: The Spectrum Connection is a dedicated social networking group providing a safe and inclusive space for autistic LGBTQIA+ adults to connect, share experiences, and build a supportive community. We are seeking 1-2 disability justice minded volunteers to assist in setting up, managing attendance, general event support, and cleaning up during our in-person meetups. If you are kind, organized, and committed to fostering a sense of belonging for our community, we invite you to be a part of our team. Neurodivergent and/or LGBTQIA+ applicants are encouraged to apply. Responsibilities: Setup and Preparation: Assist in setting up the meetup space, ensuring it is accessible and welcoming for attendees. Arrange seating, materials, and any necessary equipment for the meetup activities. Attendance Management: Greet attendees as they arrive and help them sign in, ensuring accurate attendance records are maintained. Event Support: Assist in facilitating activities and discussion among participants as needed. Actively engage with attendees, making them feel welcome and included. Clean-Up and Tidying: Help with post-event clean-up, ensuring the meetup space is left tidy and organized. Assist in packing up materials and equipment and returning the venue to its original state. Qualifications: Passion for supporting the LGBTQIA+ community and an understanding of the unique challenges faced by autistic adults. Ability to maintain a non-judgmental, empathetic, and inclusive attitude towards all participants. Organizational and time-management skills to assist in event setup and coordination. Effective communication and interpersonal skills to engage with attendees and foster a sense of community. Ability to work collaboratively in a team and adapt to various tasks as needed. Must enjoy arts and crafts. Time Commitment: The Spectrum Connection meets in person once a month on the 3rd weekend of each month alternating between Saturdays and Sundays. Meetups typically last 3 hours and volunteers are expected to arrive 30 minutes early and stay until clean up is complete, no later than 30 minutes after the end of the event. Training: Before attending their first event, volunteers will receive a one-time training via Zoom on The Spectrum Connection's values and guidelines to ensure a consistent and welcoming environment for all participants. Volunteers will receive in-person training the day of each event.
