My experience as a tutor with the White-Williams Scholars program has far exceeded my expectations. The staff is supportive, location is convenient, and objectives are clear - but it's the students that have made my time with the program truly rewarding. Even after a long day of school, the students are always eager to learn and approach our sessions with a positive attitude. On a more personal note, I tutor students on the math section of the SAT. When I hear that one of the students I worked with significantly improved their test score, I feel a tremendous sense of accomplishment. There are not many other volunteer opportunities that allow you to make such a direct and tangible impact. If you have a proficiency in a particular subject, I would highly recommend getting involved with the White-Williams program. You will not be disappointed!

It's been great to volunteer with an organization that promotes and expects high academic standards while being laid back and supportive. The students are very bright and eager to learn, and the staff makes it very easy to volunteer. While they do expect a regular weekly commitment, they are very understanding when things come up. They've also allowed me a lot of creativity when planning tutoring sessions, whcih has been wonderful, and they've been very supportive of my student's progress. Logistically speaking, the facility is in a great location (close to public transportation, and there are usually a reasonable number of parking spaces within a few blocks if you choose to drive), and they've given me a card to use to pay for street parking. Overall, I would highly recommend this to anyone who is looking for tutoring or teaching experience!

I have been SO impressed with the White-Williams organization since I started volunteering there a few months ago. The staff is so organized and helpful. When you arrive for your tutoring session, they have the textbooks each student uses ready, the teacher edition, white boards, calculators, and snacks ready in your tutoring room. The students are eager to learn, hard-working, and personable, which makes the overall tutoring experience very enjoyable.

I LOVE! volunteering at White Williams Scholars Back-on-Track (BOT) program. It is rewarding to work with students who are engaged in their own learning process, who have a sense of urgency and who appreciate the shared knowledge space that BOT offers. I whole heartedly recommend volunteering at BOT. Despite my previous experience with tutoring and working with high school students, this has been the most rewarding and enjoyable. Please join the team of progressive and engaging leaders that comprises of volunteers, students and staff. With love, honor and sincerity- Eva, BOT Tutor since October 2008 :-)
