Mission Statement

RCASA is a private, nonprofit agency committed to:

1) coordinating, organizing, and intiating services that aid survivors of sexual assault and their significant others

2) educating the public on sexual assault issues, and

3) acting as an advocate and resource for the needs and rights of survivors of sexual assault and their significant others.

Our mission at RCASA is to provide education, prevention and intervention on sexual violence in our community. We seek to raise public awareness of the issues surrounding sexual assault through community events, information displays and education programs for the entire community. We provide services to the residents of the City of Fredericksburg, and the counties of Stafford, Spotsylvania, King George and Caroline, collectively known as Planning District 16. RCASA also provides emergency medical accompaniment for victims seeking care at Mary Washington Hospital Emergency Department from other counties such as Westmoreland, Louisa, Orange, Culpeper and Warsaw.

Description

RCASA staff and trained Volunteer Victim Advocates are available to provide crisis intervention and support to victims of sexual assault and their significant others through a 24-hour hotline. RCASA also provides medical accompaniment to sexual assault victims at the Mary Washington Hospital Emergency Department. Through Legal Outreach, victims can be matched with a trained Court Advocate or a staff member to assist in the complex investigative and legal processes, providing information and companionship throughout their entire case. Support groups are available to victims of sexual assault. The groups provide a trusting and understanding environment in which members have the opportunity to examine and process the assault's effects on themselves and others. RCASA provides educational programs and sexual assault risk-reduction information to schools, community groups, service organizations, and allied professionals.

It's a great place to volunteer. They provide training and counseling even for the advocates! RCASA is one of a kind!
