Mission Statement

Program Goal: To provide adult mentors from the business community to offer support and guidance to middle school students who are at risk of dropping out of school. Mentors will encourage students to stay in school and will promote future education and career focus.

Description

The Stay in School Mentoring Project is a cooperative endeavor or professionals in the community and the Clark County School District. Interested community members must make a commitment of one school year, meeting with their assigned mentee for one hour per week at the school site during school hours.

Interested community members must complete a mentor application and a questionnaire and attend a mandatory two hour tranining session. During the training session, volunteers will complete a release of information form to allow an indepth background check. Once the background check is completed and reviewed and references are checked and cleared, a mentor is matched with a mentee.
