Mission Statement
With Wings and a Halo - R.E.A.C.H. a Child is a 501 (c) 3 nonprofit organization. Our mission is simply to, "put a smile on the face of a child in need." We do this through the magic of reading and our initiative, R.E.A.C.H. a Child, which stands for Reading Enjoyment Affects Childhood Happiness.
Key Staff:
Raechelle Bowlay-Sutton, Executive Director
Description
The purpose of "With Wings and a Halo - R.E.A.C.H. a Child" is to reach out to children across America that find themselves in a crisis situation, whether they are being treated in a Children's Hospital, a domestic violence situation, an automobile accident or children who are temporarily homeless or in distress.
Our Programs:
B.A.C.K. Packets
B.A.C.K. (Be A Cheerful Kid) packets are colorful backpacks filled with 10-12 books of varying reading levels. These B.A.C.K. packs are provided to first responders such as police officers, fire fighters, and social workers to use as a tool when they meet children in a crisis situation. First responders can read and give a book to the child to ease the anxiety of the crisis situation.
K.I.T.S. for Kids
K.I.T.S. (Kindness In Traumatic Situations) for Kids are backpacks filled with emergency supplies, books and activities for children who are displaced from their home. These backpacks are provided to first responders such as police officers, fire fighters, social workers, and Red Cross volunteers to give to children in a crisis situation.
