Mission Statement
Founded in 1939, the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary is the civilian, all-volunteer arm of the U.S. Coast Guard and supports CG missions safety and security throughout the U.S. and territories, including boating safety education and surface and air operations.
The Auxiliary is the nation's largest boating educator, offering courses to over 100,000 boaters each year.
Description
The Auxiliary seeks volunteers who are dedicated and have a desire to be part of "America's Lifesavers.' Members come from all walks of life and have unique opportunities to serve our country and to learn new skills. Membership is open to U.S. citizens at least 17 years old. Boat ownership or boating experience is not required, but helpful.
Auxiliarists wear uniforms similar to Coast Guard officers, enhanced by insignia and ribbons that proclaim individual and unit achievements. Though civilians, members observe military customs and courtesies when in uniform.
Membership can enrich your life in ways you may have not thought possible! Consider joining us today! Call (813) 835-4118 or visit: cgwebs.net/flotilla79.
