Mission Statement
The exempt purposes according to the IRS 501c3 Section of the NEVADA SENIOR RIDE CORPORATION (aka) NEVADA SR are charitable, and educational in nature.
The charitable purpose of NEVADA SENIOR RIDE CORPORATION (aka) NEVADA SR is to
- improve the quality of life for frail elderly and senior persons with disabling disorders, the chronically ill senior and the non ill senior needing transportation, by supporting and assisting them and/or their caregivers and families with services not otherwise available or accessible.
The goal of programs and community outreach services provided through the NEVADA SENIOR RIDE CORPORATION (aka) NEVADA SR is to
- enable persons identified to remain in their own or family homes within their community as long as is feasible.
Description
§ Develop transportation services that augment existing Paratransist service for seniors both disabled and non disabled:
§ Seniors will be screened for their transportation needs. Typically this will entail getting to a doctors appointment or checkup at a local clinic.
Additional appointments can be scheduled around the doctors care as prescribed. Other trips may include to the pharmacy or grocery store, paying bills or other healthcare activities such as swimming pool therapies or diabetes treatments, etc.
§ Provide a back-up system for seniors who rely on outreach transportation services;
§ Seniors may have emergency doctors visits or clinic care that can not be scheduled on the regular Paratransist or bus line.
§ Provide advanced reservation or same day demand response services on a space available basis within and beyond the existing service area for seniors:
§ Scheduling services arranged by space available on the vans.
§ Implement or expand mobility management and coordination among public transportation providers and other human services agencies providing transportation for seniors and advocacy for other persons needing transportation;
§ Expand pickup/delivery services throughout service area of Las Vegas valley especially NLV area;
§ Develop and operate a one-stop transportation traveler call center to coordinate transportation information on senior travel modes:
§ Transportation must be reserved and pre-scheduled by call in center.
§ Manage eligibility requirements and arrangements for senior customers among public, private, and private non-profit providers.
Staff will monitor the needs of passengers and make sure they are picked up and delivered safely and on time. Additional routes will be arranged if other providers can work with the time constraints of the customers.
