Mission Statement

Passion for Learning makes after school programs more powerful and relevant for academically at-risk students from low-income families in Montgomery County, Maryland. We believe that all children are promising and need opportunities to be engaged in dynamic learning environments. We focus our programs on boosting kids in the language arts and technology and our not-so-secret strategy is engaging members of the community in teaching kids and learning from them as well. We help kids become amazing students!

Description

We engage community members as volunteer reading tutors for struggling second grade readers in Montgomery County Public Schools.

We also provide a Young Writers' Academy that helps improve the literacy of academically at-risk students through dynamic after school writer workshops led by language arts professionals.

Our GRRL Tech program (Girls Really, Really Love Technology) helps girls of color from low income families gain skills and interests in technology.
