Mission Statement

Tomorrow's Business Leaders (TBL) exposes public high school students to the basic business and entrepreneurial skills for building successful careers. Driven young professionals from top firms and successful entrepreneurs bring practical knowledge and experience straight into the classroom. Students gain real-world perspectives and direct access to inspiring role models.

About Tomorrow's Business Leaders

Tomorrow's Business Leaders (TBL) provides students with skills necessary to succeed in the workplace and exposes them to a wide variety of career paths.

TBL was founded in 2004 by Harvard University graduates working in business in New York City and has grown to include a volunteers who are entrepreneurs as well as those who work at top firms in consulting, marketing, technology finance, publishing and other industries.

Our volunteers are young professionals excited to go into the classroom and share real-life experiences with the students.

We teach in several schools throughout the New York City community . Each volunteer teaches one class with other TBL volunteers, typically once every two weeks. Our curriculum lasts for a semester, and we prefer a two-semester commitment.

Recognizing and closing the gap

New York City public high school students with potential often do not live or learn in environments conducive to learning about business and professional career development. Nor do they typically have equal access to the role models who may inspire and coach them toward business or career success.

At the same time, New York City is a global business center and full of professionals who have the knowledge and skills to succeed.

With every class, TBL aims to connect these two populations. We bring successful and enthusiastic business professional into the classroom, and students get exposure to the business environments and opportunities straight from the experts.

I always wanted to volunteer doing something that I already knew about. And I wanted to go where there was need for it. That's why I joined TBL in the first place. I taught two semesters and am now on the executive board at TBL. It's a great way to give back while using your own knowledge about the basics of business and career planning. Plus it's really fun and interactive with the students. One of the best parts is you get to volunteer and see the impact of what you do consistently by teaching every 2 weeks, but the time commitment fits within a busy work schedule (just one morning or lunch-time class). I also got to meet some of my closest friends and gained a valuable leadership position on the volunteer-run board.
