NAMI Greater Toledo is seeking volunteers for Creative Expressions program. Funded by the Mental Health and Recovery Services Board of Lucas County, Creative Expressions uses art to help individuals express feelings, build connections and strengthen positive coping skills. How you can help? NAMI Greater Toledo is seeking a facilitator for NAMI Connections Peer Support Group. NAMI Connections is a support group designed for individuals living with a mental health diagnosis. It is offered every Monday (excluding holidays) from 7:00pm to 8:30pm at the NAMI Office - 4334 Secor Rd., Toledo, OH 43623. Criteria: Who qualifies? You, if you are a NAMI member who meets these guidelines: Must be an active member of NAMI prior to taking the training. Must be an adult living in recovery with a mental illness. Must commit to arriving on time and completing every day of facilitator training by NAMI Ohio Willingness to adhere to NAMI Connection Facilitator policies and to facilitate each meeting as prescribed by NAMI National and the approved curriculum. Commitment to facilitate an ongoing group within 6 months of training. Commitment to facilitate one or more ongoing groups for a minimum of one year. Commitment to communicate with NAMI Ohio state office as requested. Willingness to identify potential new facilitators from your group. Willingness to encourage participants to become NAMI members. Positive regard for, or personal experience with, mutual support. Must receive approval/endorsement form your local NAMI affiliate. NAMI Greater Toledo is seeking a facilitator for our NAMI Family Support Group. Our family support group is a support group designed for family members who are supporting a loved one living with a mental health diagnosis. It is offered every 1 st, 2 nd, and 3 rd Monday (excluding holidays) from 7:00pm to 8:30pm at the NAMI Office - 4334 Secor Rd., Toledo, OH 43623. It is also offered the 4 th Monday of month via ZOOM from 7:00pm to 8:30pm Criteria: Who qualifies? You, if you are a NAMI member who meets these guidelines: Must be an active member of NAMI prior to taking the training and agree to maintain membership while serving as a Family Support Group facilitator. Must commit to arriving on time and completing every day of training (time/days listed above & below). Your NAMI affiliate may be billed for costs incurred by last-minute cancellations. Willingness to adhere to NAMI Family Support Group Facilitator policies and to facilitate each meeting as prescribed by NAMI National and the approved curriculum. Commitment to communicate with NAMI Ohio state office as requested. Commitment to provide group participant data to NAMI Ohio as required. Willingness to identify potential new facilitators from your group. Willingness to encourage participants to become NAMI members. Must receive approval/endorsement form your local NAMI affiliate and/or NAMI Ohio. I am at a point in my life where I am familiar and comfortable with the emotional issues families face with relatives affected by a mental illness. I can self-disclose about my own feelings of guilt, anger, shame, ambivalence, and grief regarding my life situation. I am willing to participate in an intensive Saturday & Sunday training in accordance with NAMI standards. I am committed to make myself available to facilitate a regularly scheduled Family Support Group in accordance with the needs of my affiliate and/or NAMI Ohio for the next Two Years, if asked to do so. I understand that this commitment is for a support group scheduled at least once per month. I will work with my local affiliate and/or NAMI Ohio to market and offer a regularly scheduled Family Support Group within 3 months of this training. I understand that TWO facilitators are necessary for a support group session. NAMI Greater Toledo is seeking a facilitator for our 8 week Family to Family Education Course. NAMI Family to Family is an evidence-based program and is taught by NAMI-trained family members with lived experience of caring for a loved one with a mental condition. The group setting of NAMI Family to Family provides mutual support and shared positive impact. In the program, you’ll learn about: How to solve problems and communicate effectively Taking care of yourself and managing your stress Supporting your loved one with compassion Finding and using local supports and services Up-to-date information on mental health conditions and how they affect the brain How to handle a crisis Current treatments and therapies The impact of mental health conditions on the entire family Criteria: Who qualifies? You, if you are a NAMI member who meets these guidelines: Must be a first-degree relative of an individual living with mental illness or have lived in a household for one or more years with a family member living with a mental illness. Must commit to arriving at the training on time and to completing all three days of training The training will begin on a Friday at 10:00 A.M. and end by 4:30 on Sunday. Your NAMI affiliate may be billed for costs incurred by last-minute cancellations. Agreement to adhere to Family-to-Family program policies and to teach the class as prescribed by NAMI National and the approved curriculum. Commitment to begin teaching Family-to-Family within 6 months of training. Commitment to teach two or more F2F classes over the next 2 years. Commitment to communicate with NAMI Ohio state office as requested. Commitment to provide group participant data to NAMI Ohio as required. Willingness to identify potential new teachers from your class. Willingness to encourage class participants to become NAMI members. Positive regard for, or personal experience with, mutual support. Must have an active membership in NAMI. Must be recommended by your home NAMI affiliate.
