Mission Statement

The Mission of the Guardian ad Litem Program is to ensure that children involved in a Vermont court case have a well-trained, impartial, and supervised volunteer to advise and advocate for the best interest of that child.

Description

Guardians maybe appointed in the following cases:

Children in Need of Care & Supervision (CHINS)-when a child is alleged to have been abused, neglected or beyond the control of their parents.

Delinquency-when a child is accused of committing delinquent acts.

Domestic Proceedings- ensure that decisions concerning parental rights & responsibilities are in the best interest of the child.

Vulnerable Adults-act as independent advisor & advocate for that adults best interest.
