The mission of the Sapphire Butterflies is to inspire excellence and empower all inner city youth and teens to feel comfortable and confident not only in themselves but to have influential and positive impacts throughout their lives.
The Sapphire Butterflies originated in the hearts and minds of our youth and teens. The idea to build an organization for the inner city/at-risk youth in the community garnered broad based support among Houston’s schools and parents in these communities. The Sapphire Butterflies Organization (SBO) was established June 10, 2005 as a non-profit organization to educate and expose our inner city youth to educational, spiritual, recreational, and cultural workshops to help develop and build a positive and caring character in our youth of today.
The goal of SBO is to promote programs that will be cultural effective to our youth as we as parents and a community address the issues related to bullying, low self-esteem, teen abusiveness, teen pregnancies, and gangs.
As art programs are slowly being removed from our schools, our idea is to have a program that will not only inspire our youth to make a positive choice based on facts of what is going on in the society in which will live, but to have a program that will bring back the Arts programs where each child can basically make their world a stage where they can be as creative in either dance, theater, and even music. We also have programs to offer like the Black Swan & Pearls Cotillion/Beautillion After School Finishing program which originated in 1/10/2012 and Project Role Model.
Kids have a natural tendency to play dress-up when young, and as they grow, they take a keen notice of fashion trends and want to imitate them. As kids become preteens, they become focused on appearance as a form of acceptance. Kids are exposed to the popular media culture, and fashion becomes very important at this age. There are many programs to engage your child in developing a fashion sense and in creating fashion and accessories and the year 2014, The Sapphire Butterflies have a program such as that!
Most kids already know what they want to be at a young age. Some have dreams to be firemen, police officers, presidents and princesses. Then, there are those who have a passion for fashion and they dream of becoming designers or models. These dreams don't have to wait until they're older. The Sapphire Butterflies Organization will offer kids' a fashion program whether your son and/or daughter want to explore the inner workings of the fashion business or this program will teach it all.
Fashion is an interest and passion of people of all ages, especially young adults. Whether they like to browse fashion magazines or design clothing, young people who are into fashion often want to socialize with others that share their interest. Starting this program is an ideal way to not only socialize with like-minded fashion lovers, but to inform others about this very diverse, creative industry.
If your child's manners leave something to be desired, perhaps he/she would benefit from an etiquette course. These courses included will range from basic etiquette and manners to modeling and fashion. Most etiquette courses are for girls, usually about age 7 to 18, but Sapphire Butterflies will have this course for both young and teen boys. Through this program, boys and girls will be introduced to the world of modeling and fashion, through workshops, challenges, games and exercises. The program will also include the youth building up their portfolios and getting the experience of a runway/fashion print model.
This program will help your child to learn the basics of the profession, from how to walk straight to how to give a great photo shoot.
This exciting, empowering program will also introduce both boys and girls to the world of modeling and fashion and steps them through a series of workshops, photo shoots and daily challenges with top industry professionals. The children, teens, and even adults will learn about modeling in a fun, non-competitive environment and walk away not only with the knowledge of how to get in to the industry but with valuable life skills that they can apply to their everyday life.
