If we truly want to reduce the numbers of homeless in our communities, the most effective way of doing so would be to help them become productive, self-sustaining members of the community.

There is a huge social, economic and environmental impact of homelessness in Central Florida with increased crime rates when hopelessness sets in, increased tax spending on police surveillance and increased costs of emergency medical care being a few of the costs. There would be a significant social return on investment to increase aid to transition the homeless back to self-sufficiency.

Individuals can get involved by learning how to be part of a fundracing team and raise funds for the homeless by being sponsored by races or helping out with a HOPE Team - a homeless running team as a running partner, mentor or coach.
