Description

On www.donorschoose.org, donors find a simple way to provide students in need with resources that our public schools often lack. At this nonprofit website, teachers submit ideas for materials or experiences their students need to learn, such as Magical Math Centers ($200), Digital Classroom ($509), and Backpack Books Program ($788). Any individual can search student projects by areas of interest or geographic location, learn about classroom needs, and choose to fund the project(s) she/he finds most compelling. Donors receive digital photos of the students and a thank-you package of student notes, a teacher impact letter, and a project cost report showing that the tax-deductible gift was spent as directed.

DonorsChoose.org was pioneered by teachers at a Bronx public high school in the spring of 2000. Since launching, DonorsChoose.org has delivered more than $35 million in resources to over 2 million students across the United States. More than 80% of the resources we deliver are reusable for future classes. After our expansion in 2007, DonorsChoose.org is available to teachers in every public school in the country and donors reside in all 50 states.
