Summary MAG community education program seeks a volunteer to facilitate an evidence-based course called Stress-busting for Caregivers. Stress-busting focuses on tools and strategies for self-care, techniques for coping with stress, and problem-solving. The course consists of 90-minute group classes held every week for nine weeks. The volunteer will facilitate this class alongside a staff member. Graduates of the course call it "life-changing" and "like being handed a life-preserver." Essential Duties Facilitate the class alongside a staff member. Log into each class online and welcome/interact with participants. Use the manual provided to guide class participants through the course, asking questions and encouraging discussion as appropriate. For virtual classes, you may use a PowerPoint presentation to guide the class (presenter notes are available which make it easy to share the materials). *The Stress-Busting curriculum is an evidence-based program. MAG has purchased the license to use this program and it needs to be administered as it is written. Requirements The volunteer facilitator needs to be a professional, trainable person who can keep the fidelity of the program, stay calm, be supportive, stay on track, know technology (ability to do virtual classes). The ideal facilitator is someone who can facilitate a support group educational class. The person doesn't need to know all about dementia or caregiving but should be able to keep the class moving along and share the information in the manual appropriately. Training and Supervision Attends general volunteer orientation. Completes a full training on Stress-busting for Caregivers curriculum (about 13 hours) Would report to the Community Education Coordinator and work directly with the other course facilitator. Time Commitment Attend all 90-minute sessions for a nine-week period. Must facilitate one course per year to maintain program license. Date and time of the nine-week period would be determined with the volunteer. Most likely during the day, Monday-Thursday. Additional 30-60 minutes to prepare for upcoming class.
