Shelter Our Sisters assists women and children who are victims of domestic violence, including emotional, economic, sexual, and physical abuse. Available 24 hours, seven days a week, Shelter Our Sisters is Bergen County's only nonprofit organization that provides safe housing, hotline counseling, and life-changing support services to thousands of women and children each year.
Since our opening in 1976, Shelter Our Sisters' mission is to foster healing and change. We provide emergency and transitional housing, emotional support, and a diversified continuum of services focused on safety, empowerment, and self-sufficiency. Through voluntary community partnerships, and group/individual contributions, Shelter Our Sisters raises awareness, provides critical services, and educates community members about domestic violence.
SOS provides a caring and supportive environment that offers women the opportunity to move from their crisis, through the healing process, to independence and self-sufficiency.
