Mission Statement
Professional Arts Consortium coordinates programs among its members - six art colleges in Boston - to expand educational opportunities and resources for participating institutions. The Consortium also works to enrich the arts and arts education in Boston and throughout the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
Description
The Professional Arts Consortium (ProArts) was incorporated in 1984 as an association of six neighboring Boston institutions of higher education dedicated to the visual and performing arts. In addition, the ProArts Consortium was instrumental in creating the Boston Arts Academy, a public high school for the arts developed in partnership with the City of Boston and the Boston Public Schools. As a pilot school within the Boston Public Schools, the Arts Academy is charged with being a laboratory of innovation and a beacon for arts education for the entire school system.
