Mission Statement

The purpose of the Barton Springs Intercept Survey is to gather information from swimmers and visitors of Barton Springs pool in order to better understand the needs of the Austin community. The survey is conducted by staff, interns and volunteers for the City of Austin Parks and Recreation Department. The mission of the Parks and Recreation Department is to "provide, protect and preserve a Park System that promotes recreational, cultural and outdoor experiences for the Austin community."

Description

The Barton Springs intercept survey is a year-long project conducted by the City of Austin Parks and Recreation Department. The objectives of the survey are (1) to gather demographic data about pool users, (2) to gather information about pool-use patterns, (3) to learn about pool user opinions of facilities and improvements and (4) to gauge user knowledge of the pool and other areas in Zilker Park.

The survey is being conducted from June 2009 to May 2010 by a number of staff, interns and volunteers. The survey will be used to understand public opinion about possible changes at Barton Springs pool.
