Mission Statement

The mission of SCW is to empower children in developing countries through the provision of new school facilities and educational opportunities.

This mission will be accomplished through partnerships with local communities and supporting organizations to create quality learning environments that are safe, healthy, secure and educationally adequate.

Description

We build schools in 3rd world countries! We travel 2-3 times per year with volunteers to Honduras, once a year to Africa, and once a year to India. More trips to Centeral and South America are comming in 2010.

SCW started with a 16 year old's week long mission trip with his father to Honduras. Since 1996, founding members of SCW have been traveling to Honduras to build schools in rural areas. In 2004, SCW completed a nationwide study assessing all of the existing schools in the country. With the help of the Honduran Military, SCW traveled to more than 12,500 locations to create a database to help the Honduran Government and other Non-Profit organizations make decisions on where their aid can be most effective: www.HondurasPlanMaestro.com

SCW's design standards for school buildings were adopted into law by the Honduran Congress in 2005, and today government build school buildings reflect the high standards of SCW's construction, sustainability, and layout requirements. SCW currently has 14 projects in 7 countries, but a vast majority of their work is done in Honduras.

SCW is mostly a volunteer driven effort, with strong support of the world class visionaries of the board of directors. SCW's financial support is vastly made up of individual donors.
