The mission of the Metropolitan Tulsa Urban League is to enable African Americans and others in need to secure self-sufficiency through education and life skills development programs.

The Metropolitan Tulsa Urban League was founded in 1954 by a group of concerned citizes from a broad section of our city with the goal of ensuring African Americans have equal access to housing, education, and healthcare. Our organization is affiliated with the NAtional Urban League. Today Urban League affiliates nationwide are focused on empowering communities and changing lives. Locally, MTUL is focused on 4 core areas, Economic Development, Education and Youth Development, Health and Quality of Life, and Civic Engagement. We do this through a variety of social service and educational programs. Our services include, housing counseling (homebuyers, homeowners, financial literacy, foreclosure prevention), Employment services (casemanagement to assist job seekers identify job opportunities as well as to provide soft skills training), Infant mortality prevention(casemanagement and emergency assistance with baby items), after-school tutoring for K-12th grade students, 6-week Freedom School program every summer, voter registration, community issues forums, candidate forums.
