Mission Statement

THE MISSION of the YWCA CASA for Kids Program is to provide trained volunteers to help abused and neglected children who are under court jurisdiction move quickly through the court process and on to safe, permanent homes.

Description

The YWCA CASA Program was started in La Crosse, Wisconsin in 1999. CASA is under the umbrella of the YWCA of the Coulee Region. The staff consists of a full time director and part time volunteer coordinator. Both staff persons have degrees in social work and have Child Protective Services backgrounds. Currently, there are 14 active volunteers serving 23 children in La Crosse county. Training sessions are held in March and September of each year. Annual special events include the April "Give the Light of Hope to a Child" campaign and December "A Magical Ride on the Polar Express." There is a tremendous amount of excitement in the La Crosse CASA office regarding this new program established to assist children move through the court system quickly and on to permanent homes.
