PCs for People helps students and low income folks cross the digital divide. I can't imagine going to school or looking for a job without internet access and a machine on which to work. Yet many people still do. It's a big contributor to the lack of class mobility we have in this country. PCs for People addresses that directly. And it's really rewarding to see a whole school full of students getting computers and internet access.
The work itself is fun and challenging in its own ways. I work with a phenomenal group in Denver who have been getting up and running over the last year. We do a lot on a shoestring budget and can use more volunteer help. I never know what I'll be doing one day to the next when I show up to the warehouse. Some days it's pulling or installing computer parts, sorting donations, cleaning and testing equipment, whatever is the biggest priority that day. Please consider joining us in making our little corner of the world a better place.
