Mission Statement

Morris-Butler House provides an experience of Indianapolis architecture, culture, history and society during the nineteenth century. Through its historic preservation, restoration and a variety of learning experiences, this museum property of Historic Landmarks Foundation of Indiana introduces the early development of Indianapolis to people of all ages.

Description

Morris-Butler House is an 1865 home, named for its two families. Restored in the 1960s, it represents Indianapolis in the Victorian age. Year-round programs include Victorian Indianapolis during the holidays, also at Valentine's Day, plus special summer events, teas, Hoosier folktales tours in October, and more! Children's programs gain in popularity each year: etiquette, Civil War, architecture, and the ethnic origins of Christmas in Indianapolis.
