Louisiana says Y.E.S....to Children's Mental Health - a collaborative partnership that works because we focus on the child and the process is driven by the families. The Louisiana Youth Enhanced Services (LA-Y.E.S.) is a System of Care that was developed to help children with behavioral and emotional disorders get the care that they need so they can have happier and healthier relationships with their family, school, and community. Under the system of care, all the resources in a community - from child-serving organizations to local children's mental health councils, work together, as directed by the parents and caregivers, to develop an individualized service plan that's right for the Child and can be followed in the communty.
The Family Involvement Enhancement Project (FIEP) is a partnership between the Louisiana Youth Enhanced Services, Louisiana Federation of Families for Children's Mental Health and the Louisiana Children's Museum. The central goal of the project is to empower families with children (ages 3-21) with behavioral or emotional disabilites. The FIEP is a training that helps the families obtain support, communication, and leadership skills. The parent are involved in leadership training, while the children are doing fun, theraputic art activities.
