Mission Statement

Planned Parenthood of Western Pennsylvania believes in the natural right of each individual to manage his or her fertility regardless of the individual's income, marital status, age, national origin or residence. We also believe that reproductive self-determination must be voluntary and preserve the individual's right to privacy. Based on these beliefs, the mission of Planned Parenthood is: To provide comprehensive reproductive and complementary health care to those in need of these services. To disseminate information about human sexuality and the need for family planning and responsible parenthood. To advocate public policies which guarantee these rights and ensure access to such services.

Description

Since 1930, Planned Parenthood of Western Pennsylvania(PPWP) has provided reproductive health care of the highest quality. We are a non-profit organization that offers services and programs to meet the community's health care, advocacy and educational needs. Our health centers are conveniently located throughtout western Pennsylvania and are staffed by professional health care providers. Comprehensive, confidential medical services are offered to women regardless of their age. Fees are based on a sliding scale that takes into account the patient's family size and income. No one is denied medical care. In addition to health care, Planned Parenthood offers educational and advocacy services. The education department provides community and school programs, professional training, workshops and information on a wide variety of topics. Planned Parenthood advocates a woman's right to choose and takes an active role in ensuring the reproductive health care rights of women.
